It is Official

We are excited to announce - The Brittany Cena Sanctuary House Foundation is official. It is registered with the federal government and we are waiting for the paperwork so we can do the state paperwork. In the coming weeks, I will be asking for volunteers to be on various committees. Any assistance you can lend will be greatly appreciated. The foundation will have two phases. The first phase will be raising money to start a scholarship fund. We are hoping to be able to do give away 3 scholarships in 2010 which would have been the year that Brittany graduated from high school.

The other component is that we want to give monentary support victims and survivors of violent crime in Ocean County. When you are a victim or a survivor of a violent crime there are unforeseen expenses. We are hoping to offer support to get victims or survivors when they need it.

Our goal is to see the foundation can grow to the second phase. In the second phase, we will actually have a house where victims and survivors of violent crime can come to receive therapy, temporary housing and meet with others who have experienced similar events in their lives. We want Brittany's memory to be about who she was and how she loved people and not about the event that took her from the people she loved and who loved her.
